NG Elec installs home solar batteries across Adelaide and SA, sized to your evening and overnight use, with the federal battery rebate taken straight off your quote. The rebate steps down every January and July, next on 1 January 2027, and it's the install date that counts, so a battery installed before then gets the 2026 rate.

A solar battery stores the spare power your panels make during the day so you can use it at night or in a blackout. In South Australia, the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program pays an estimated $258 per usable kWh on the first 14 kWh for batteries installed in 2026, dropping to about $217 from 1 January 2027 (estimates at about $38 per STC, and STC prices move). NG Elec sizes it, applies the rebate and installs it.

Is this you?
If your panels send power to the grid all day and you buy it back at night, a battery keeps more of it at home.
Cooking, heating, cooling, TV and EV charging in the evening is exactly what a battery covers.
With backup set up, the fridge, lights and internet keep running when the grid drops out.
The rebate steps down every January and July, next on 1 January 2027. It's based on install date, not quote date, so the earlier you're booked in, the better.
On a Solar Sharer plan, the battery can top up free from the grid between 12 and 3, then run the house through the evening. Handy in winter too. See Solar Sharer free power.
What we do
We design, install and sign off the whole system, with the rebate shown on your itemised quote.
We size from your evening and overnight use, then check your solar can fill it in winter. Our guide on what size battery you need explains how.
Tesla Powerwall, Sigenergy, GoodWe, Sungrow and BYD. We recommend the one that suits your home, backup needs and space.
AC-coupled alongside your current inverter, or a swap to a hybrid if yours is ageing. If your array can't charge a battery properly, we'll tell you.
Essential circuits or the whole home, where the battery and switchboard allow. We confirm what's possible before we quote. More on blackout battery backup.
We apply the federal rebate through STCs on your quote and handle the SA Power Networks paperwork.
Eligible batteries must be able to join a virtual power plant. Whether you join one is up to you.

How it works
Call 0425 322 552 or fill in the form with a recent bill and what solar you've got. Interval data helps us size it right.
We size the battery and check your switchboard and backup options. We'll call to talk it through, then send a free, itemised quote with the rebate applied.
We lodge the paperwork and lock in your install date. Licensed electricians fit the battery, gateway and any backup circuits.
We test and commission the system and show you how backup and settings work.
Pricing
On typical NG Elec jobs in 2026, a battery added to existing solar starts from about $9,000 (24 kWh usable GoodWe), and most land between $10,000 and $14,500, after rebates, incl GST. That's roughly $350 to $600 per usable kWh. Every quote is free and itemised, with the rebate shown. See our price guide for real recent jobs.

FAQ
It depends on the battery's usable size and the install date, and it's tiered, so the first 14 kWh gets the full rate and bigger batteries get less per extra kWh. Our solar battery rebate guide explains how it works, and the battery rebate calculator shows how much you'll get.
The next drop is 1 January 2027, and it keeps stepping down every January and July until the end of 2030. The install date counts, not the quote date, so calculate your rebate and book in early if you want the 2026 rate.
It's set by how much power you use after dark, not the size of your solar. We size it from your interval data and show you the cost per kWh after the rebate, so you can see where the sweet spot is for your home.
Usually, yes. We either AC-couple it alongside your current inverter or swap to a hybrid inverter. In Seaford Heights we added a 26.3 kWh Sigenergy battery to existing solar. More in adding a battery to existing solar.
Only if it's set up with backup. We can back up essential circuits like the fridge, lights and internet, or the whole home where the battery and switchboard allow. We confirm it before quoting, so there are no surprises the first time the grid drops out.
On a Solar Sharer plan, yes. Since 1 July 2026, SA retailers must offer at least one plan with free grid power from midday to 3pm, capped at 24 kWh a day. On cloudy winter days, or if your solar is on the small side, the battery can top up free in that window and run the house through the evening peak. We can set the charge schedule up when we commission it. Those plans usually have higher supply and peak charges, so compare the total cost. More in Solar Sharer free power.
On typical NG Elec jobs in 2026, after rebates, incl GST: a battery added to existing solar starts from about $9,000, and most land between $10,000 and $14,500. Solar and battery together starts from about $11,000, with most between $14,000 and $25,000. Brand matters too: we install Tesla Powerwall, Sigenergy, GoodWe, Sungrow and BYD. Every quote is free and itemised. See our price guide.
For homes that export a lot of solar during the day and buy power at night, it often is. Payback depends on your usage, tariff and the rebate, so we give you estimated numbers on your quote rather than a blanket promise. See solar battery payback in Adelaide.
