The short answer

The right solar system for an Adelaide home is the one sized to how much power you use and when, within the export limit SA Power Networks sets (single phase homes are usually capped at around 10 kW of inverter). NG Elec checks your bills, roof and switchboard, takes the STC rebate off the quote and installs with licensed electricians under a lifetime workmanship warranty.

Is this you?

Is solar worth it for your home?

Your bills keep climbing

If someone's home during the day, or you run a pool pump, air con or an EV, solar cuts what you buy from the grid while the sun's up.

Your old system isn't pulling its weight

Early systems were small and inverters wear out. We can upgrade, replace or start fresh, whoever installed it.

You want a battery, now or later

We can fit a battery-ready hybrid inverter, so adding storage down the track is simpler. See solar batteries for Adelaide homes.

You're building or renovating

It's the easiest time to plan panels, switchboard space and an EV charger together, before the plaster goes up.

What we do

What's in an NG Elec home solar install

Every quote names the exact brand and model of every part, with the rebate already taken off.

Sizing from your bills

We use your bills and interval data to see how much you use and when. Adelaide panels make about 5.8 kWh per kW a day in summer and about 2.4 in winter, so we design for both.

Quality panels

AIKO, Jinko and Trina panels, including all-black AIKO panels for a clean look. Tigo optimisers where shading or split roofs call for them.

Battery-ready inverters

Fronius, GoodWe, Sungrow and Sigenergy, including hybrids that take a battery later without starting over.

Switchboard and approvals

We check your switchboard before we quote and lodge your SA Power Networks application. Older boards may need a switchboard upgrade to take solar safely.

Monitoring and load control

Most inverters come with an app that shows what you make and what you use. Catch Power load control can send spare solar to your hot water.

Warranty that lasts

Manufacturer warranties on the gear, plus our lifetime workmanship warranty on the install.

How it works

From first call to switch-on

  1. Send us a bill

Call 0425 322 552 or fill in the form with a recent power bill. We'll ask how you use power and what's coming, like a battery or EV.

  2. Design and itemised quote

We look at your roof, shading and switchboard, then send a free, itemised quote with the STC rebate applied.

  3. Approval and install

We handle SA Power Networks approval, then our licensed electricians install. Install time depends on size and extras, and it's on your quote.

  4. Switch-on and handover

We test and commission the system and show you how it all works.

Case study · Flagstaff Hill, SABattery and solar panel installation in Flagstaff Hill

We installed solar with Tigo optimisers and a whole-home backup battery for a large, multi-level Flagstaff Hill home shared by two families. The roof had several sections facing different ways with patchy shade, so the design had to work around it.

FAQ

Questions people ask us.

What size solar system do I need in Adelaide?

It depends on how much power you use and when, not just your roof size. We size from your bills and interval data and check winter as well as summer, because Adelaide panels make about 2.4 kWh per kW a day in winter against about 5.8 in summer. Our guide on how many solar panels you need goes deeper.

How much does solar cost in Adelaide?

On typical NG Elec jobs in 2026, after rebates, incl GST, 5 to 6 kW of solar only starts from about $5,000. Solar with a battery starts from about $11,000, and most land between $14,000 and $25,000. Every quote is free and itemised, and $0 deposit options and flexible payment options are available. See our price guide and what solar costs in Adelaide.

Is there a solar rebate in South Australia?

Yes. Most home solar qualifies for the federal small-scale technology certificate (STC) incentive. We apply it directly on your quote, so there's nothing to claim later.

Do I need approval to connect solar in SA?

Yes. SA Power Networks approves every connection and sets your export limit. Single phase homes are usually limited to around 10 kW of inverter. We handle the application for you.

Should I add a battery now or later?

If the budget allows, doing both together means one install and one approval. If not, we fit a battery-ready hybrid inverter so you can add one later. Keep in mind the federal battery rebate steps down every January and July, next on 1 January 2027, and it's the install date that counts.

Do I still need solar if I get free power from 12 to 3?

For most homes, yes. The federal Solar Sharer offer gives free grid power from midday to 3pm in SA, but it's only three hours, it's capped at 24 kWh a day, and those plans usually have higher daily supply charges and peak rates. Solar covers your daytime use outside those hours, and with a battery, your evenings. Where the free window really helps is a small roof or a winter day: a battery can top up free between 12 and 3. See Solar Sharer free power.

Do you install outside Adelaide?

Yes, anywhere in South Australia. We're based in Hackham and have trusted install partners in the South East, Yorke Peninsula and Eyre Peninsula, with every job designed, managed and signed off by NG Elec. Recent installs include Hayborough (18.3 kW with a 35 kWh usable Sigenergy battery), Morphett Vale (12.75 kW with 24 kWh usable and blackout backup) and Myponga (11.4 kW with 26.3 kWh usable).

Who actually installs it?

Licensed electricians, on every job. Every system is designed, managed and signed off by NG Elec. We're SAA accredited, a Tesla Certified Installer and a Master Electricians member, with licence PGE285103 and $20M public liability cover.
