The short answer

NG Elec installs solar and batteries for SA sporting clubs and community groups, starting with an energy assessment of the club's bills, usage and switchboard. In 2026 we've done free assessments for bowling, football, soccer, rec park and similar clubs under a City of Onkaparinga grant program. Grant rules and amounts vary, so check with your council. We supply the energy data for applications.

Is this you?

Signs your club is ready for solar or a battery

Power bills are eating the budget

Canteen fridges, cool rooms, bar gear and hot water run whether there's a game on or not. Bills land on the treasurer every quarter.

Night training under lights

A lot of club use happens in the evening, after the sun's gone. A battery can store daytime solar for training nights.

A big, empty roof

Clubrooms, sheds and grandstands often have plenty of roof that's doing nothing during the week.

There's a grant round coming up

Applications usually ask for current usage and what a system would do. We can put those numbers together for you.

The switchboard is old

Older clubrooms often have tired boards. Worth checking before you add solar, a battery or more lights.

What we do

What we do for clubs

One contractor for the assessment, the design, the install and the electrical work around it.

Energy assessment

We go through your bills and how the club actually uses power: weekdays, game days, training nights and the canteen.

Energy data for grants

We supply usage figures, system design and estimated output to support your application. Grant rules and amounts vary, so check with your council.

Solar design and install

Sized to your daytime load and roof, using brands like AIKO, Jinko, Trina, Fronius, Sungrow, GoodWe and Sigenergy. See our commercial solar page.

Batteries and backup

Store daytime solar for training nights, with backup for fridges and essentials if you want it. More on our solar batteries page.

Electrical upgrades

Switchboards, lighting circuits, EV chargers and general commercial electrical work, done by licensed electricians.

Ongoing checks

Inspections and maintenance so the system keeps doing its job, including thermal drone checks on larger arrays.

How it works

From first chat to switch-on

  1. Get in touch

Call 0425 322 552 or send the form. A recent power bill or two helps, plus a rough idea of when the club uses power.

  2. Energy assessment

We look at your bills, roof and switchboard, then show you what solar, a battery or both would do for the club.

  3. Itemised quote and grant data

You get a free, itemised quote your committee can read, plus the energy data for any grant application. We handle the SA Power Networks paperwork.

  4. Install and handover

Installs are planned around fixtures and events where we can. We test, commission and show your committee how it runs.

Pricing

What affects the price

Every club is different, so we quote site by site. Every quote is free and itemised, and we offer $0 deposit options and flexible payment options.

Case study · Kangarilla, SACommercial solar and battery backup for Kangarilla General Store

We installed 27.5 kW of solar and a 96 kWh Sigenergy battery with backup at Kangarilla General Store. The store was paying about $18,000 a year for power and wanted to cut that and keep trading through blackouts.

FAQ

Questions people ask us.

Do you do free energy assessments for sporting clubs?

In 2026 we've been doing free energy assessments for local sporting and community clubs under a City of Onkaparinga grant program. If your club is elsewhere in SA, get in touch and we'll tell you what we can do. Quotes are always free.

Are there grants for solar at sporting clubs in SA?

Some councils and governments run programs that can help clubs with solar or batteries, but grant rules and amounts vary and change. Check with your council first. We can help with the energy data your application needs.

What information do you need for a grant application?

Usually your recent power bills and some detail on how and when the club uses power. From that we can put together usage figures, a system design and estimated output for your application.

Is a battery worth it for a club that trains at night?

It can be. Clubs often use a lot of power in the evening when solar isn't producing. A battery stores daytime solar for later. We'll look at your bills and show you the numbers on the quote rather than guess.

Have you done this kind of job before?

Yes. We've done energy assessments for bowling, football, soccer, rec park and similar clubs. We also installed 27.5 kW of solar and a 96 kWh Sigenergy battery with backup at Kangarilla General Store, and helped with the energy data for their grant.

Can you work around games and events?

We plan installs with your committee and work around fixtures and events where we can. Any power shutdowns are agreed with you beforehand.

Do you work with clubs outside Adelaide?

Yes. We service all of South Australia, including the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu, the South East, Kangaroo Island and the Yorke and Eyre Peninsulas.
