Induction cooktop installation in Adelaide.

Most induction cooktops need their own dedicated circuit, so installing one usually means checking your switchboard and running new cable from the board to the kitchen. NG Elec does the whole electrical side across Adelaide and SA, so you can get off gas and cook on your solar.

The short answer

Installing an induction cooktop usually needs a dedicated circuit from the switchboard, sized to the cooktop's rating, plus a check that your board and supply have room for it. Swapping from gas also means the gas line is capped by a gasfitter. NG Elec handles the switchboard check, new circuit and connection, and quotes it free and itemised.

Is this you?

Why people switch to induction

Getting off gas

Once hot water and cooking are electric, many homes can drop the gas connection altogether.

You've got solar

Cooking while your solar's producing uses your own power instead of paying for gas.

Faster and easier to clean

Induction heats quickly and the flat glass top wipes clean.

No open flame

A cooler cooktop surface and no gas burning in the kitchen.

FAQ

Questions people ask us.

Does an induction cooktop need its own circuit?

Most do. Full-size induction cooktops draw a lot of current, so they need a dedicated circuit sized to the cooktop. Check the manual or send us the model.

Can I plug an induction cooktop into a power point?

Some small or portable units can. Most built-in cooktops are hardwired on their own circuit by a licensed electrician.

Will I need a switchboard upgrade?

Sometimes. If your board has no space or no safety switches, it may need work. We check before quoting.

Can you disconnect the gas?

Gas work needs a licensed gasfitter. We look after the electrical side and can work alongside your gasfitter.

Will induction work with my pots?

Induction needs magnetic cookware. If a magnet sticks to the base, it'll work.

Can I run my cooktop on solar?

Yes, whenever your solar's producing. With a home battery you can cook dinner on stored solar too.
