Large solar array across a commercial roof
Solar, batteries and electrical · One contractor

Commercial solar installation in Adelaide.

NG Elec designs and installs commercial solar and battery systems for businesses, farms and community buildings across South Australia, sized to when you actually use power. Because most businesses run during the day, more of the solar gets used on site instead of exported.

The short answer

Commercial solar suits most businesses because they use the bulk of their power in daylight, when panels produce. NG Elec sizes each system from your usage data, adds battery storage where it stacks up and handles the electrical work too. At Kangarilla General Store, with power bills of about $18,000 a year, we installed 27.5 kW of solar and a 96 kWh Sigenergy battery with backup.

Is this you?

Signs your business is ready for solar

Big daytime power bills

Shops, workshops, cold rooms, offices and farms that run while the sun's up get the most out of solar.

Roof space going to waste

Sheds, warehouses and low-pitch commercial roofs often have room for a big array.

You can't afford to lose power

A battery with backup keeps fridges, tills and essentials running. Kangarilla General Store has exactly that.

You're applying for a grant

We helped Kangarilla General Store with the energy data for their application. Sporting clubs and community groups can start with our solar for clubs page.

FAQ

Questions people ask us.

Is solar worth it for a business?

It often stacks up well, because businesses use most of their power during the day while the panels are producing. We size it to your daytime load so you use as much of it on site as possible.

How big a system does my business need?

It depends on your usage pattern, roof and connection. We size it from your interval data. For example, Kangarilla General Store had power bills of about $18,000 a year, and we installed 27.5 kW of solar with a 96 kWh Sigenergy battery and Tigo optimisers.

Do you do commercial batteries?

Yes. We design commercial battery storage where it stacks up, to shift solar into the evening or keep essentials running in a blackout.

Will the install shut my business down?

There's a short shutdown to connect the system. We plan it with you so it's at the least disruptive time we can manage.

Can you help with a grant application?

We can supply usage data and system details for your application, as we did for Kangarilla General Store. Whether it's approved is up to the funding body.

Do you work outside Adelaide?

Yes. We take on commercial, farm and regional jobs anywhere in South Australia from our Hackham base, with trusted install partners in the South East, Yorke Peninsula and Eyre Peninsula. Every job is designed, managed and signed off by NG Elec.

How do you keep a commercial array performing?

Regular panel cleaning and thermal checks. On a commercial roof in Gawler, built-up dirt overheated and burnt the cells and the whole system needed replacing. Regular cleaning and checks would have caught it. Our commercial maintenance guide covers what to schedule.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Electrical contractor licence PGE285103, $20M public liability, SAA accredited and Master Electricians members. Licensed electricians work on every job.
