The short answer

NG Elec installed an 18.525 kW solar system with a Sigenergy three-phase hybrid inverter and battery at the Quorn Community Hall in the Flinders Ranges, for the Flinders Ranges Council. We handled the design, SA Power Networks approval and the install, and the system is on 24/7 monitoring from our Hackham office.

The job

Brief, build, result.

The brief

Community halls use most of their power while people are in them: lights, heating and cooling, kitchens and events. The council wanted to cut the hall's running costs with solar and storage.

Being in the Flinders Ranges, they also needed an installer who'd stand behind the system long after install day, not a one-off crew.

What we did

We designed a 39 panel JA Solar array to fit the hall's tin roof, paired with a 15 kW Sigenergy three-phase hybrid inverter and battery stack.

The battery is floor mounted with two bollards for protection. We took care of SA Power Networks approval and set up 24/7 monitoring, so we can see how it's performing from Hackham and respond if anything needs a look.

The result: The hall now runs on its own solar through the day and stores the surplus for evenings and events, with the whole system monitored remotely. Running a hall, club or council building? See our commercial solar service or read about our work in the Flinders Ranges.

FAQ

Questions people ask us.

Do you install solar for councils and community groups?

Yes. We work with councils, clubs and community organisations as well as homes and businesses. Community groups can also qualify for the federal battery rebate.

Do you really work 300 km from Adelaide?

Yes. We work right across South Australia, including the Flinders Ranges, Eyre and Yorke Peninsulas, Kangaroo Island and the South East.

How do you look after a system that far away?

Every system we install is on 24/7 monitoring, so we can see faults and performance remotely and plan a visit only when one's actually needed.
