The brief

A general store runs fridges, freezers and lighting all day, and the power bills were adding up to about $18,000 a year.

Being in the Adelaide Hills, outages are a real risk. A blackout means lost stock and lost trade, so the owners wanted backup as well as lower bills. Roof space was limited too.

What we did

We designed a 27.5 kW solar system with Tigo optimisers to get the most out of the available roof, and paired it with a 96 kWh Sigenergy battery set up for backup.

We handled the commercial electrical and switchboard connections and planned shutdowns so the store could keep trading with as little disruption as possible. We also pulled together the system data the owners needed for their grant application.

The result: The store now uses more of its own solar, relies less on the grid, and can keep refrigeration, lighting and the tills running during an outage. Running a business with big power bills?
