The short answer

NG Elec installed 11.4 kW of JA Solar, a Sigenergy 30 kW three-phase hybrid inverter, 26.28 kWh of usable battery and a Sigenergy 25 kW DC EV charger at a rural property in Myponga. The job included removing an old Tesla Powerwall 2, upgrading the house to three phase through a 30 m trench, and whole home blackout backup.

The job

Brief, build, result.

The brief

The owners had an older Tesla Powerwall 2 and Fronius inverter, an electric car, and a house fed from a switchboard in the shed.

They wanted one system that could run the house, back up everything in a blackout and charge the car quickly from their own solar.

What we did

We removed the old Powerwall and gateway, brought the existing panels into the new system, and installed 24 new JA Solar panels with a 30 kW Sigenergy three-phase hybrid inverter and three battery modules.

To get three phase to the house we organised a service locator and a vac truck for a 30 m trench from the shed switchboard, then upgraded circuits to Type A RCBOs where needed. The Sigenergy 25 kW DC charger runs off the same system, so the car charges from the sun.

The result: One app now shows the solar, the battery and the car, and the whole house stays on in a blackout. Thinking about an EV charger? See our EV charger installation page or our three-phase upgrades.

FAQ

Questions people ask us.

Can I replace an old battery with a new system?

Yes. On this job we removed a Tesla Powerwall 2 and gateway and brought the existing panels into the new Sigenergy system.

Do I need three phase for a DC EV charger?

For a fast DC charger and a big hybrid inverter, three phase is usually the way to go. We check your supply and quote the upgrade if it's needed.

Can you handle the trenching too?

Yes. We organise the service locator and vac truck, run the cable and leave you to backfill, or arrange it as part of the job.
